Barnacles Dolphin Centre
The Barnacles Dolphin Centre opens at 7.00am with viewing time between 7.00 – 8.00am. There is only one feeding session per day commencing at 8.00am. On arrival visitors are welcome to join the volunteers in the water and get to know these beautiful mammals with a small group of people in the water at any one time.
Fish for the feeding is available on site. We have a feeding fee of $10 per person to cover the cost of each fish purchased and our other costs. Dolphin feeding does mean getting wet, at least up to your knees… so come prepared!
This activity is very popular with families and kids simply love the experience.

Dolphin Ferry Cruises
Join us at Dolphin Ferry Cruises aka Tin Can Bay Ferry on our historic ferry and discover the beautiful Sandy Straits and its surroundings.
Enjoy magnificent scenery in a 90-minute Sunset Cruise or a One-stop round trip between Norman Point and Carlo Point for lunch or dinner at Quay Carlo.
One-hour cruises from Tin Can Bay with lunch at the Tin Can Bay Yacht Club are also a popular way to see and get a feel for our beautiful area.

Fishing in Tin Can Bay
Whether you’re interested in heading out to sea from Tin Can Bay or just fishing along the shores and banks, it’s certain to be memorable.
Popular spots to fish are between Inskip Point all the way down to Double Island Point if by tinny or smaller boat. If you don’t have a boat or wanting to try some bigger fishing you can charter a boat and go out fishing for a day.
Tin Can Bay has a large variety of fish, including Sweet Lip, Cobia, GT (Golden Trevally), Mangrove Jack, Whiting, Red Snapper, Dart, Tuskies, Blackall, Pearl Perch, Grass Emperor, among others. Plus Mud Crabs may enter some post if you drop a few.
Sailing in Tin Can Bay
Sailing is for sure one of the greatest adventures to partake in at Tin Can Bay. The ocean is an endless view of tranquil waves and sailing among the waters is an absolute favourite by many.
Aside from sailing, Tin Can Bay Boat Hire provides boat hiring services for visitors wanting to explore the waters as well. The thrill of speed boating is fun for beginners, novice boaters and those with a lot of experience.
Markets and Shopping
Tin Can Bay is a small-town with many small local shops and markets are held most 3rd Saturdays of each month from 7 am to 12 noon. These markets are perfect stops to grab some fresh local produce.
The markets also have local crafts and other handmade goods on display for you to buy and are located next to the RSL Hall on Tin Can Bay Road.
Aside from food-related shopping, there are quirky spots to visit such as Gone Bonkers, a local dollar store with fun items. Another great spot is Jilly’s Handmade Gifts for souvenirs.
Tin Can Bay attractions, camping, and restaurants (like Groovy Goat at Sleepy Lagoon Hotel) offer a superb experience for all visitors. Nothing beats fresh, local food and drinks for those seeking a a pleasant experience.
Snapper Creek Environmental Walkway
One of the most tranquil experiences you can have when visiting Tin Can Bay is the foreshore bird walk. The mangroves and sand flats make for a perfect habitat and feeding area for many of the birds in the area.
The type of birds you can expect to see are synonymous to the area of the Ramsar Wetlands and this wildlife flies as far as Siberia to come and spend their time between September and March along the Fraser Coast.
Birds such as the Brolga, which is silver and grey in colour, Brahminy Kite with its chestnut wings and distinctive white head will have you camera ready to capture these fascinating birds.
To captivate you even more, during certain months, it’s considered home to up to 50,000 birds of all varieties and is well recognized as one of the most environmentally protected areas for birds in Australia.
